BELL ATLANTIC DECLARES $0.385 PER SHARE
QUARTERLY DIVIDEND

New York - The Board of Directors of Bell Atlantic Corp. (NYSE: BEL) today
declared a quarterly dividend of $0.385 per share, unchanged from the previous
quarter.  The dividend is payable on Nov. 1, 1999 to shareowners of record at
the close of business on Oct. 8, 1999. Bell Atlantic has approximately one
million registered shareowners and 1.55 billion shares of common stock
outstanding.
