Atlantic  Telecom  launches  in  Scotland's capital

Atlantic  Telecommunications  Limited,  a  wholly
owned  subsidiary of Atlantic Telecom Group  PLC,
is   delighted  to  announce  that  it  will   be
launching  its fully digital fixed  radio  access
("FRA") telecoms service into Edinburgh today.

The Edinburgh launch, which will be supported  by
a   comprehensive   advertising   and   marketing
campaign,  will  introduce Atlantic's  innovative
and  value-added telecoms services to over
200,000  potential customers.  The launch  means
Atlantic  is now operational in all four  of  its
target  cities in Scotland and has  achieved  its
immediate  objective of rolling out  services  in
each target Scottish market by the end of March.

The   launch  means  residential  customers   and
smaller businesses in Scotland's capital can  now
take   advantage  of  one  of  the  world's  most
sophisticated       fixed       radio       based
telecommunications     networks.       Atlantic's
innovative  telecommunications  package  provides
customers with free connection and a second  line
free  of charge as well as a host of free  added-
value  services  which includes  voicemail;  call
forwarding;   call  waiting  and  call   barring.
Residential  customers  are  also  offered  calls
throughout Scotland at the price of a local  call
while  Atlantic's  business  customers  can  make
domestic  calls throughout the UK  at  the  local
calling rate.

The   Company  has  been  operating  a  successful
service in Scotland since October 1996 and already
provides  its  services, using FRA technology,  to
three   other  major  Scottish  cities:   Glasgow,
Aberdeen   and   Dundee.    These   networks   are
progressing  well and the Company is on  track  to
complete its entire Scottish build out later  this
year.  Last month Atlantic Telecom was awarded, in
principle,  five new regional licences in  England
by the DTI.

Commenting  on  the  Edinburgh  launch,  Graham  J  Duncan,
Executive  Chairman  said: "The  roll  out  into  Edinburgh
represents  an  extremely important stage in our  expansion
programme.   Our launch into the capital means that we  now
offer  our  special brand of telecoms service in Scotland's
four  key  cities  and have a strong  base  from  which  to
further expand our business.

that  the  residential and business customers  of  Edinburgh
will now be able to take  advantage of all the benefits that
our network can offer."
