ATLANTIC TELECOM LAUNCHES NEW 'CITY' RATE TARIFFS
FOR MAJOR CITIES IN THE UK AND WORLD-WIDE
Advanced telecommunications company Atlantic Telecom
Group PLC (Atlantic or Atlantic Telecom) is
continuing its innovative approach to tariffing and
highly competitive pricing policy by introducing two
new 'City' rates to its existing residential and
business call charging structure.
Atlantic's 'Local' City Rate will allow its
customers to call major cities in the UK for the
price of a 'local' call. This extends its normal
'local' call area which currently covers the whole
of Scotland and London (0171 and 0181). Customers
will now benefit from calling Birmingham, Belfast,
Sheffield, Manchester, Leeds, Tyneside and Liverpool
for the same 'local' rate.
The 'Global' City Rate, unique to Atlantic, will
focus on calls to selected cities and will offer
Atlantic customers one fixed unit price for all
calls to a number of City destinations. The Cities
which are included in this new 'Global' City Rate
are Brussels, Frankfurt, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam,
Oslo, Dublin, Stockholm, Madrid, Milan, Copenhagen,
New York, Houston, Los Angeles, Montreal, Toronto,
Sydney and Melbourne. The cost of calling these
cities will be 13p per minute Peak and 10p per
minute Off Peak, plus VAT.
Atlantic Telecom's unique new tariffing structure
will benefit both residential customers who have
family abroad and small and medium sized business
customers who make frequent European or
Transatlantic business calls.
Graham J. Duncan, Executive Chairman of Atlantic
Telecom commented, "The 'Local' and 'Global' City
Rate heralds a new era in telecoms pricing and it
further reinforces Atlantic's commitment to breaking
down the barriers between distance and cost.
Atlantic's introduction of these new tariff
structures is another example of the added value
that we offer to our customers".
A niche player focusing on product differentiation and
innovation, Atlantic currently services Glasgow with its
fixed radio access system and the whole of Scotland with
Crest, an innovative proprietary indirect service. The
company will continue to build its fixed radio access network
in Scotland, with Aberdeen being the next target city.
