                 ATLANTIC TELECOM GROUP PLC
     RECORD TELEPHONY OPERATING STATISTICS  FOR QUARTER TO 30
                    SEPTEMBER 1997
                    
The  Board of Atlantic Telecom Group PLC is pleased
to   announce   the  Group's  telephony   operating
statistics for the quarter ended 30 September 1997, which  also
coincides with the half  year  of  the Group.  The quarter has
been an excellent one  with lines installed and pending
installation increasing to  over  17,500  at 30 September 1997
across  the Group's  two main telecommunications companies,  an
increase of over 4,500 in the quarter.  This  is  a record
achievement since the Group  first  entered the telephony
market approximately one year ago.

The operating statistics are as follows:

*  includes 813 lines connected indirectly using BT lines and
call routing boxes.

Atlantic  Telecommunications Ltd ("ATL")  continues to
experience a low churn rate with only 208 lines disconnected
in  the quarter, mainly  due  to  non payment.  Logicall
experienced minimal churn.

The radio access network in the City of Glasgow  is now
complete with 42 operational base stations  in place  at  30
September  1997.   The  Group   also successfully launched its
indirect service,  Crest, towards  the  end of the quarter and
enhanced  its network    capacity  with  a  new  software
upgrade coupled   with  some  hardware  enhancements.    In
September,  the Group successfully completed  field trials  of
the latest X2 modems operating  at  57.6 Kb/s  across  the
network using new  data  software developed  by  Tadiran
Telecommunications  Ltd  of Israel,     suppliers  of  the
fixed  radio   access network.  This allows ATL to  deliver a high  speed
data  service,  including  a  high  speed  internet service, to
its customers.

Average   revenues  per  residential  customer   in Scotland
remain high at close to #40 per month with business  revenues
per customer approximately  #80 per  month,  both  excluding
value  added  tax  but including line rental.

Commenting  on the statistics, Graham J Duncan  the Executive
Chairman stated:

"This  quarter has been one of record  achievement. We  can
reflect  that  nearly  one  year  on  from launching
telecommunications services, our  growth has  been  much
higher than  we  could  ever  have imagined,  and we look
forward to the  future  with optimism."

Results  for  the six months to 30  September  1997 will be
released during December.
