Anglo and Overseas Plc (the "Company") 
 
Transaction in own shares 
 
The Company announces that on 17 August 2009 it purchased 33,000 of its own 
Ordinary shares of 10p each at a price of GBP0.88. These shares have been 
purchased for cancellation. 
 
In addition to these transactions 3,000 shares from treasury are required to be 
cancelled to ensure the Company holds no more than 10% of its current shares in 
issue in treasury. 
 
Following this repurchase the Company has 8,442,438 Ordinary shares held in 
treasury. The number of shares in issue is now 84,426,319. The number of shares 
in issue, less those held in treasury, is 75,983,881.
