                           ("Allied" or "the Group")

PROPOSED DISPOSAL 

The Board of Allied is pleased to announce that it has agreed to dispose of
four bars in Newcastle to Ultimate Leisure Group Plc for a total consideration
of #3.7m in cash, plus stock at valuation.  The disposal is unconditional and
completion is expected on or before 10 November 1999.

The units being disposed of, Kiss, Maceys, Luckies and Masters, were part of
the former bars and discotheques division of European Leisure PLC, which was
acquired by Allied in June 1999. 

Neil Goulden, Chief Executive of Allied, commented, "This latest disposal
follows the recently announced sale of 27 bars and discotheques to Luminar PLC
and is another step in our strategy of enhancing shareholder value by
concentrating the Group's resources on its market leading Rileys and Megabowl
businesses.

"This is an excellent price for four bars which were non-core even to the
European Leisure bars and discotheques division, and will clearly sit better
with a specialist bar operator in the North East.

"Our ongoing disposal programme is proceeding smoothly and we hope to be able
to announce further disposals shortly."
