Pursuant to an agreement with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, Acorn Group plc
yesterday participated in the secondary placing of 6.5 million Ordinary Shares
in ARM Holdings plc at a price of #8.00 per share.  As part of this secondary
placing Acorn sold 600,000 shares realising gross proceeds of #4.8m.  Acorn
retains a holding of 11,561,961 ARM shares representing 24.61% of the issued
share capital of ARM.

It has been agreed that for a period of 90 days Acorn will not, without the
prior consent of Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, buy or sell further ARM shares.
