Re: Notification of Interests of Director

Please note that I have today received notification from Providence Investment
Company Limited on behalf of Dr Hermann Hauser, a non-executive director of
Acorn Group plc, that Providence Investment Company Limited has sold 500,000
ordinary 10p shares in Acorn.  The bargain date was 9 December 1997.  The
bargain price was #1.35 with a total consideration of #675,000.

Provident Investment Company Limited is wholly owned by the Trustees of the
Providence Trust, a Jersey law discretionary trust which numbers Dr Hermann
Hauser amongst its potential beneficiaries.

The Trust now holds 2,722,785 shares representing 2.964% of the issued share
capital of Acorn.
