                   Appointment of Director

The Board of Acorn Group Plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr
Stanley Boland to the Board as Finance Director with effect from 26 September
1997. Mr Boland joins Acorn from ICL for whom he worked from 1990 to 1997,
initially as Group Treasurer and then successively as Finance Director of the
ICL Sorbus and Financial Services business units.
