NEW DELHI--Telenor ASA (TEL.OS) said Thursday that it has awarded Alcatel-Lucent (ALU) with a contract to manage its mobile-phone networks in three service areas for its Indian unit. It didn't provide financial terms or tenor of the contract.

According to a statement, Alcatel-Lucent India will manage mobile phone networks for Telewings Communications Pvt. Ltd., the local unit of Norway's Telenor, in the Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra service areas.

Telewings is a new unit of Telenor that won bids to offer services in six of the country's 22 service areas in a state auction in November.

The company is now focusing on these areas for growth after losing all its licenses following a Supreme Court order last February that canceled 122 telecom permits citing corruption in their allotments in 2008.
