The Motion Picture Group, Inc. (Pink Sheets:MPRG), a production
finance and services company, announced today that it is attending
the CineVegas Film Festival held June 9-17 in Las Vegas in an
effort to identify and potentially help develop emerging
filmmakers. The Company is putting together a 15-film slate that
will balance larger commercial films with edgy independent films.
Henri Kessler, the Company's President, stated: "The CineVegas Film
Festival has emerged as a festival with great talent in attendance
and in competitive selection. We are looking forward to this event
as we want to develop first time filmmakers as well as work with
established Directors." Executive Vice President Scott Franklin
said: "We believe in staying true to our independent filmmaker
roots by supporting the indie community while also making Hollywood
commercial films. Maintaining a fair balance between these
different film types will give us the opportunity to work with an
incredibly diverse group of filmmakers." "CineVegas is pleased to
welcome The Motion Picture Group into its fold," said CineVegas
Director of Programming, Trevor Groth. "This Company's commitment
to discovering new voices which define rather than abide by
cinematic convention provides a meaningful opportunity for this
year's filmmakers." The Motion Picture Group's award winning
management team has produced several films that received many film
festival awards including "SLAM", produced by Kessler, which was
awarded the 1998 Cannes Camera D' Or and Sundance Grand Jury Prize
as well as receiving the Independent Spirit Award for Best Debut
performances. "SLAM" also won the Audience Choice Award at the St.
Louis International Film Festival. Scott Franklin was a co-producer
on the independent film "Requiem For A Dream" starring Ellen
Burstyn, Jennifer Connelly, Jared Leto, and Marlon Wayans. The film
premiered at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival to rave reviews and
received numerous awards at various festivals and academies around
the globe, eventually earning Burstyn an Academy Award nomination
for Best Actress. Franklin also served as the associate producer on
his first film, "PI", which went on to win awards at the 1998
Sundance Film Festival for Best Director, the Gotham Awards Open
Palm Prize, and the Independent Spirit Award for Best First
Screenplay. About The CineVegas Film Festival CineVegas has
