Healthcare Staffing Company Signs New Contracts, Expands Existing Agreements DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla., Dec. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- STAT Medical Services, a 15-year-old medical staffing and employee leasing business under agreement to be acquired by iBX Group Inc., (BULLETIN BOARD: IBXG) has experienced a dramatic upsurge in demand for its cost-effective temporary healthcare staffing services, company officials reported today. The increase in business is a direct result of an aggressive three month marketing campaign and nurse recruitment drive launched earlier this fall, according to Joe Manick, Managing Director of the STAT Medical Services division. "Our recent recruitment campaign, which targeted approximately 10,000 nurses throughout west Georgia and east Alabama, allowed us to add hundreds of per diem nurses to our network," Manick said. "The increase in personnel has opened the door for expansion of our relationships with several current clients as well as sign new contracts with facilities not previously under agreement". Terms of these agreements were not disclosed. STAT Medical Services recently agreed to provide temporary personnel at a 292-bed hospital in Columbus, Ga., that provides state-of-the-art cardiac care, as well as an 82-bed hospital/nursing facility in Valley, Ala. In addition, the company has become the main outsource provider for healthcare staffing at several other hospitals and nursing homes in the area. "Several of our existing clients have elevated us to first-call status, meaning we have the opportunity to fill many more shifts than we did before," Manick said. "These facilities outsource an average of 100 shifts a week, and as the main outsource provider, we have the opportunity to fill 70 to 80 of those shifts before the client will contact another company. The increased visibility has also allowed us to begin negotiating with several other facilities, and we plan to announce additional contracts in the coming weeks." During the past decade, an average 10 percent vacancy rate for nursing positions has forced hospitals and nursing homes to rely on temporary staffing agencies to fill shifts. The per diem staffing industry is now estimated to be a $4 billion-a-year business.
