About Chief Mountain Coop

Chief Mountain Gas Co-op Ltd. (CMC) is a member owned gas distribution company servicing a significant portion of Southern Alberta. CMC was started in 1973 by farmers and ranchers wanting a less expensive and more reliable natural gas service. In 2009 CMC’s Board took an innovative step with Automated Meter Reading (AMR) gathering technology, using a newly licensed 3650 Broadband bandwidth from Industry Canada. As part of this technology trial and with the assistance of Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development, CMC set up an Internet Service Provider (“ISP”) and AMR system. CMC’s agreement with Platinum will leverage its adoption of cutting edge technology while providing its members with a premium Internet service from a professional provider.
