TORONTO, ONTARIO recently announced that it had successfully
raised proceeds of $250,000 to finance exploration of its Sentinel
Peak and Stingaree Valley properties.
Stingaree Valley
The Stingaree project claims are in Churchill County, Nevada and
cover a valley floor located 45 miles east of Fallon and just north
of U.S. Highway 50. The property is located between the historic
Chalk Mountain and Westgate mining districts. Chalk Mountain is
immediately to the west of the property, while Westgate is about
1.5 miles to the southeast.
Inter-Rock signed a long term lease in September, 2007 for 17
unpatented mining claims in Churchill County, Nevada. Advance
royalty payments are $10,000 upon the first anniversary of signing
and $15,000 on each anniversary of the signing date thereafter. The
property is subject to a 2.5% net smelter return royalty with a
buyout clause. Inter-Rock has staked an additional 27 claims that
adjoin the 17 leased claims.
The surficial rock assemblage present Chalk Mountain and
Westgate comprises a Triassic to early Jurassic sedimentary
sequence of dolomitic limestone, shale, and minor arenaceous units
intruded in places by massive quartz porphyry and granodiorite of
Tertiary and Cretaceous age. In 1974, J.R. Simplot completed an IP
survey and drilled one core hole on the property. Simplot was
looking for a copper porphyry deposit and did not do any assaying
for gold. Bear Creek Mining did some field work in the early
1980's. Subsequently, the property was held by private geologists
and some further geophysical work was carried out. These
investigations indicated that favourable shale bedrock is not
deeply covered. Grab samples taken subsequently from the Simplot
core reportedly contained gold values in the shale.
Inter-Rock intends on carrying out geophysical and geochemical
surveys to determine the depth of the bedrock and to assist in
drill target definition. This work will commence as soon as ground
and weather conditions permit.
Sentinel Peak
The Sentinel Peak property is located in northern Humboldt
County, Nevada approximately 80 miles northwest of Winnemucca.
Inter-Rock holds 22 claims covering 440 acres. No royalties or
lease payments are associated with the property.
Australian Ores and Minerals (AOM) discovered gold
mineralization at Sentinel Peak in the 1990's by follow up field
examination of a spectral anomaly. Their work comprised geological
mapping, a closed space soil geochemical program, analysis of rock
chip, trench, and road cut samples, and ground geophysical studies.
Approximately 984 soil samples on a 100 foot grid spacing and 1,160
rock chip samples were collected and analyzed. The rock chip
geochemistry returned gold to 7.0 ppm, silver to 39 ppm, arsenic to
690 ppm, and mercury to 9.7 ppm. The soil samples showed gold up to
2.1 ppm with large areas of plus 100 ppb. One trench reportedly
revealed a zone of 90 feet grading 1.2 ppm gold.
The Sentinel gold prospect occurs in and around a Cretaceous
granite to granodiorite stock, later intruded by latite porphyry
dikes, which is several thousand feet long and intrudes an
assemblage of Permain metavolcanics and metasediments. There are
NE-SW and NW-SE shear structures with cross cutting faults.
Both the intrusive and sediment/volcanic package contain
numerous areas of cross cutting veinlets, boxworks, and veins of
silica, calcite, and iron oxides. Hydrothermal alteration is
prevalent throughout the anomalous spectral feature with
phyllic/argillic alteration up to 50% quartz and 50% sericite. The
alteration and mineralization are indicative of a moderate depth
hydrothermal system.
Outcrop is generally poor, but residual shallow soil contains
abundant alteration minerals. A series of low cost airtrack drill
holes will be used to provide detailed mapping and sampling data.
Inter-Rock plans to start this work in the late spring once the
snow cover has melted.
