Marketwired
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA and Altair Ventures Inc. (TSX
VENTURE: AVX) are pleased to announce that drilling has commenced
at the CJ Gold Project in Alaska.
The CJ Project is a sediment-hosted, structurally controlled,
high-grade gold vein system located adjacent to a paved highway.
Several historically producing gold mines occur within a structural
corridor that currently has a strike length of 3,200 meters and
spans 500 vertical meters. Drilling completed by Altair and Full
Metal during 2007 confirmed the strike extent of the gold-bearing
system (see FMM 2007 - NR #31, December 10, 2007).
This phase of exploration will include a minimum 12 hole, 1,500
meter program, specifically targeting high-grade gold
mineralization at the historically producing Dawson Mine. Historic
drill results from a limited 1980 Dawson Mine drill program
include:
--------------------------------------
Hole Width Average Grade
--------------------------------------
DDH#11 2.4 meters 40.4 g/t Au
--------------------------------------
DDH#15 4.9 meters 9.3 g/t Au
--------------------------------------
DDH#16 8.8 meters 18.7 g/t Au
--------------------------------------
DDH#18 6.3 meters 28.3 g/t Au
--------------------------------------
DDH#20 4.0 meters 8.7 g/t Au
--------------------------------------
The CJ Property is well located on east-central Prince of Wales
Island in southeast Alaska. The southern boundary of the Property
has access to both a high-voltage power line and a state maintained
paved highway connecting the community of Craig to a ferry terminal
at Hollis.
The 2008 exploration program at CJ will be supervised by Greg
Thurow CPG#3403 (Wyoming) with Alaska Earth Sciences, an
Anchorage-based Consulting Group and a Qualified Person as defined
by NI 43-101. Drill cores will be cut in half using a diamond saw,
with one-half placed in sealed bags, and delivered to ALS-Chemex
Labs facility in Vancouver, B.C. A sample quality control/quality
assurance program is planned. Contents of this release were written
and approved by Robert McLeod, P.Geo., Vice President of
Exploration for Full Metal Minerals and a Qualified Person as
defined by NI 43-101.
Drilling will begin shortly on the high grade 40 Mile Zinc,
Lead, Silver Property and at Moore Creek Gold Property. Other 2008
drill programs include Lucky Shot Property, Mt. Andrew Property,
Pebble South Property, and OG Property. The Company has Joint
Venture Agreements with Kinross Gold, Freeport McMoRan, BHP
Billiton, Metallica Resources, Triex Minerals, Altair Ventures,
Highbury Projects and Millrock Resources.
