Bridgeport Ventures Inc. (TSX VENTURE: BPV) ("Bridgeport") is pleased to announce that Mr. Wolf K. Seidler has joined its Board of Directors, effective January 11, 2010.

Mr. Seidler is currently a director of Inmet Mining Corp. Mr Seidler has over 35 years of international experience as a mining engineer and has held senior executive positions at Normandy LaSource SAS, Quebec Cartier Mining (U.S. Steel), Inmet Mining Corp., J.S. Redpath Ltd., Teck Corporation and Gold Fields Mining Corp.

"We are very pleased to have Wolf join our Board of Directors. Wolf is a seasoned mining industry professional who will bring a tremendous amount of mine development and operations experience to our organization," said Mr. Hugh Snyder, Chairman of Bridgeport.

Mr. Steve Mintz has resigned as a Director and President and CEO of Bridgeport. "We wish to thank Mr. Mintz for his outstanding contribution in leading the Company through the challenging phase of going public," stated Hugh Snyder, who will also be taking on the role of Chief Executive Officer. "We wish Steve all the best in his future endeavours."

On joining Bridgeport's board, Mr. Seidler received a grant of 250,000 options exercisable at $2.15 per share for a period of five years, subject to vesting provisions under the terms of Bridgeport's stock option plan.
