PR Newswire (US)
CHICAGO, Aug. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Chicago Tribune announced today
that it has agreed to begin delivering the Chicago Sun-Times and 10
affiliated suburban newspapers, expanding a broad newspaper
delivery network to provide excellent delivery service to customers
of both companies. "We are pleased to add the Sun-Times News Group
as a delivery client, sharing efficiencies while we continue to
compete for readers and advertisers," said Tony Hunter, Chicago
Tribune senior vice president / Circulation & Operations. "This
new agreement with the Sun-Times strengthens our position as
Chicagoland's premier print distributor." The agreement is
effective immediately, with the transition of Sun-Times delivery to
the Tribune being completed during the fourth quarter. The
Sun-Times will continue to invoice its home-delivery customers and
maintain customer service call centers, and both newspapers will
continue to manage separate single copy delivery systems in the
city. Under the new delivery arrangement, all affected newspapers
will continue to adhere to current delivery standards. Currently,
the Chicago Tribune has local distribution agreements with more
than a dozen newspapers that include the Wall Street Journal, New
York Times, USA Today, Financial Times and Investor's Business
Daily. The agreement announced today adds the Sun-Times to that
list, along with its affiliated suburban newspapers that include
the Aurora Beacon News, Elgin Courier News, Joliet Herald News,
Naperville Sun, Waukegan News-Sun, Daily Southtown, Gary
Post-Tribune and the Star. "Finding opportunities to capitalize on
our distribution operation continues to be an important part of our
strategy to grow revenue," Hunter said. "We are committed to
maintaining our high level of service to our clients as we look for
additional opportunities." About Chicago Tribune Company Chicago
