Perini Corporation (NYSE:PCR), a leading building and civil construction company, announces the receipt of an award from the U.S. Air Force, Headquarters 311th Human Systems Wing, for its newly developed program for Heavy Engineering, Repair and Construction (HERC). The program requirements encompass a full range of methods and technologies to support the design and construction of new facilities and infrastructure, and to remodel and upgrade existing facilities and infrastructure, worldwide. The HERC program is currently funded at $6 billion to support Military Construction (MILCON), Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC), and other DOD activities over the next 10 years. The program will be managed by AFCEE, the Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence, although the emphasis is on construction and will include only incidental environmental work. The Air Force awarded 15 full and open indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contracts, each with a 5-year basic ordering period plus three additional 1-year options, for work to be executed through April 2017. Contractors were selected based on overall best value to the government including past experience and willingness to perform work in remote, austere and hostile environments. The selected contractors will compete for Task Orders under the program. Over the past three years, Perini has been awarded $900 million of Task Orders for design-build construction to support U.S. military activities in Iraq and Afghanistan.
