OKLAHOMA CITY, Dec. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Oklahoma Gas
and Electric, a subsidiary of OGE Energy Corp. (NYSE: OGE) has paid
businesses of all sizes more than $7.5
million in energy-saving incentives so far in 2016.
That figure reflects 750 projects among large commercial and
industrial facilities, schools and government buildings, and small
businesses. Combined energy savings was more than 80 million
kWh.
Cash-strapped secondary schools in Oklahoma have received nearly $650,000 in incentive rebates, while universities
have received approximately $365,000.
OG&E gave nearly $90,000 to one
single district – Moore Public
Schools – in 2016, for projects that also saved the district more
than 1 million kWh. In addition, the SmartHours for Schools program
has saved schools in Oklahoma more
than $2.2 million since it began in
2012.
"Moore Public Schools is
grateful for the financial incentive provided by OG&E used to
offset the cost of new energy efficient products within many of our
schools," said Dr. Robert Romines,
Superintendent. "The incentive not only provides immediate
financial reward, but the future energy savings will be valuable
for many years."
"The incentive checks are a fantastic bonus for schools that are
already trying to shave costs where they can," said Ken Grant, OG&E Vice President, Sales &
Marketing. "In addition to that, their electricity bills will go
down due to the energy savings they achieved with the projects.
Then, if they're enrolled in SmartHours for Schools, they save even
more."
