Citing the need for HR expertise, robust and flexible
technology, better compliance and risk management, and an
exceptional customer experience, companies across both the middle
and large markets1 selected Hewitt Associates, a global human
resources consulting and outsourcing company, to help them lower
their HR costs and provide world-class HR and benefits
administration services to their employees. In its most recent
fiscal year, Hewitt added 15 new organizations to its list of more
than 300 Benefits Outsourcing clients and expanded its scope of
core benefits services for eight existing clients. Hewitt also
added DB CalcTM pension services for 18 clients, won two new HR
Business Process Outsourcing (HR BPO) contracts, sold absence
management services to 11 clients, and signed on to provide an
additional 177 HR Point Solutions to a variety of new and existing
clients. At the end of fiscal 2009, Hewitt administered benefits
and HR services for more than 21 million employees and retirees
worldwide.
Among the current and new clients that purchased Hewitt
outsourcing services during the 2009 fiscal year, 19 signed on for
health and welfare services and seven added defined benefit or
defined contribution services. Three of those organizations hired
Hewitt for total benefits outsourcing, which includes both
retirement and health and welfare. Hewitt will provide these new
services for clients ranging in size from 3,000 to well over
100,000 employees.
“Whether for discrete benefits administration processes, or
large-scale HR BPO solutions, companies are choosing Hewitt for our
industry-leading capabilities and deep domain expertise, plus our
ability to address their business issues with targeted solutions
that have real impact on their organizations,” noted Mike Wright,
Hewitt’s senior vice president of outsourcing sales. “Outsourcing
is truly becoming a best practice. Our strong sales in Benefits
Outsourcing and our two new global HR BPO deals this year are
reflective of that.”
Hewitt also sold 177 standalone or integrated HR Point Solutions
to help companies address three critical business challenges:
productivity and health care cost containment, compliance and risk
management and the ongoing effort to attract and retain talent.
Examples of these services include advocacy, where Hewitt’s
experienced HR professionals serve as advocates to help employees
resolve their personal health and retirement claims issues;
dependent audit, a proven process to identify and remove ineligible
dependents from health plan coverage; claims and appeals
management, where Hewitt ensures unbiased reviews of medical and
retirement eligibility claims; and Your Spending AccountTM,
Hewitt’s flexible spending account solution.
“We’ve really hit our stride this year selling Point Solutions
like our dependent audit offer and our new absence management
solution,” Wright continued. “These services are attractive to
employers because they can provide in-year savings while giving
companies the ability to explore and adopt broader HR outsourcing
services that generate longer-term results.”
“We had a great sales year in fiscal 2009,” said Jay Rising,
president of Hewitt’s global benefits outsourcing business. “We’ve
raised our game around technology and service delivery and are
performing with industry-leading quality. And it’s resonating with
our clients—both for those new to Hewitt and for existing clients
where we’re expanding our relationships. We’re already well
underway in implementing these new clients and services on time and
with high quality. I’m encouraged by the growing interest in our
breadth of services and look forward to serving these organizations
and continuing our momentum in 2010.”
