Gateway Finalizes First Quarter Results POWAY, Calif. and IRVINE, Calif., May 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Gateway, Inc. announced today that it has finalized its first quarter 2004 financial results. (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20020930/LAM050LOGO ) Compared with the company's preliminary financial results announced on April 29th, the final results widened Gateway's first quarter net loss by $6 million, or approximately 2 cents per share, to $172 million, or 51 cents per share. The change is due to an increase in a reserve related to a patent-infringement claim as a result of recent developments in final settlement negotiations. In announcing its preliminary results, Gateway stated that the financials were preliminary and subject to any change resulting from finalization of tax provision numbers and certain legal settlement negotiations. Final financial results for the first quarter of 2004, which are otherwise substantially the same as previously announced, are contained in the company's Form 10Q which has been filed today.
