CLEVELAND, May 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- On Friday, May 19, Forest City Realty Trust, Inc.
(NYSE: FCEA and FCEB) associates from across the country will
participate in the company's 14th annual Community Day, a day of
service benefitting nonprofit organizations in many of the cities
where the company has a presence. Associates from 60 Forest City
locations will come together to complete service projects that
foster "the power of place" in our local communities.
"Truly great places have the ability to improve lives, foster
diversity and create rewarding experiences," said David LaRue, Forest City president and chief
executive officer. "As believers in the 'the power of place,' we
relish this annual opportunity to do our part and join together as
one Forest City and demonstrate our shared commitment to our
communities and our core values."
Using the hashtag #thepowerofplace, Forest City associates and
community partners will be sharing stories and pictures from
Community Day. The company's Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and
LinkedIn accounts will also provide coverage throughout the day.
Each year, associates at Forest City's regional offices and
properties across the country select local organizations to serve
on Community Day and then coordinate with those organizations to
identify their needs. Efforts are guided by associates who serve as
site organizers, working with local agencies and vendors to ensure
the projects are a success.
In the Cleveland area, this
year's Community Day will benefit Fostering Hope, Hospice of the
Western Reserve (two area locations), West Creek Conservancy and
Urban Community School. Associates in Boston will be volunteering at Cambridge
Family & Children's Service. In Dallas, associates will be sorting and
processing donations at the local Goodwill Industries distribution
center. In New York City,
associates will be completing beautification projects in the
children's corner of Prospect Park. Associates in Washington, D.C., will be serving Mary's
Center, a local community health organization. Similarly,
associates in the company's other core market offices and at its
properties across the country will be pitching in to help nonprofit
organizations in their communities.
"Giving back to our local communities is an essential part of
who we are as a company and how we create 'the power of place'
every day in cities across the country," said Jeff Linton, senior vice president of corporate
communication and community relations for Forest City and this
year's Community Day executive sponsor. "It's no secret why our
associates call it 'the best day of the year'."
Forest City also partners with other companies that provide
supplies and materials needed to complete the various projects
undertaken on Community Day. This year, those valued suppliers
include Sherwin-Williams, Davey Tree
and HD Supply, among others.
