Campaign BALTIMORE, Jan. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Constellation
Energy (NYSE:CEG) today announced that its employees continued the
tradition of generous community support by contributing more than
$3.6 million to the various 2004 United Way Campaigns where the
company has operations and once again making it the top corporate
contributor in St. Mary's County. Together with Constellation
Energy's corporate matching gift, 50 cents for every dollar
contributed, United Way Campaign contributions totaled $3.6
million, topping last year's $3 million. Employee contributions
increased from $2 million to over $2.45 million this year, an
increase of 16 percent. "As Constellation Energy continues its
growth beyond its roots in Maryland, our enduring partnership with
the United Way now reaches neighbors in need in communities around
the country," said Mayo A. Shattuck III, chairman, president and
CEO. "Employees deserve credit for again stepping up to the plate
and making a difference. Their strong involvement in our United Way
Campaign is one of the ways we demonstrate our commitment to
maintain an active, supportive presence in the communities we live,
serve and work." Nearly $363,464 will go to the United Way of
Southern Maryland, the site of Constellation Energy's Calvert
Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant (CCNPP). The balance of the
contributions will go to other United Way chapters where
Constellation Energy has operations. "The employees at Calvert
Cliffs are proud to support the many agencies of the United Way,"
said George Vanderheyden, vice president of CCNPP. "They make this
donation possible and it is their dedication to this community that
reflects Constellation Energy's commitment to the United Way."
Constellation Energy employees also participated in several United
Way sponsored fundraising and community outreach programs across
the country, including several annual Day of Caring Projects.
