Baltimore Gas and Electric Company to Provide Additional Assistance to Southern Utilities BALTIMORE, Sept. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE), a subsidiary of Constellation Energy (NYSE:CEG), today announced that it is making available additional personnel and equipment to assist Florida utilities with their ongoing response to Hurricane Frances. Nearly 75 BGE overhead line and support personnel, along with roughly 30 vehicles, will be departing early tomorrow morning for Augusta, Ga., where they will provide restoration assistance to Georgia Power. It is expected that upon completing work in Georgia, the BGE crews will be redeployed to Florida to assist with additional restoration activities. As part of tomorrow's convoy, BGE is making available 25 bucket trucks, a mobile operations center and an assortment of other related vehicles. "BGE is pleased to be able to lend support to our colleagues to the South as they begin the arduous task of restoring electricity to the millions left without power as a result of Hurricane Frances," said Kenneth W. DeFontes, vice president of electric transmission and distribution for BGE, and recently named to succeed Frank O. Heintz as president and chief executive officer of the utility, effective Oct. 1. "We will remain in close contact with the Southeast utilities as part of an existing mutual assistance network and will continue to reassess what BGE resources might be redeployed in the days ahead while maintaining our own ability to respond to any impact Frances or any other storm might have on Central Maryland." This latest show of support by BGE is in addition to the nearly 200 contract tree and overhead line personnel who were either deployed late last week in advance of Hurricane Frances, or those contract personnel who were deployed to South Florida in the wake of Hurricane Charley. BGE is a member of Constellation Energy (NYSE:CEG), a Fortune 500 integrated energy company based in Baltimore.
