Baltimore Gas and Electric Company Contractor Crews Assisting Florida With Restoration Following Hurricane Charley BALTIMORE, Aug. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE), a subsidiary of Constellation Energy (NYSE:CEG), today announced that 130 overhead line contractor personnel have been dispatched to Central and Western Florida, to assist Progress Energy in restoring electric service to some of the more than 1.5 million Floridians who lost power when Hurricane Charley hit the state last week. "BGE's service territory was spared the brunt of Hurricane Charley, allowing us to release our contractor crews and deploy them where they are most needed," said Stephen J. Woerner, manager of electric system operations and planning. "However, BGE is keeping its company crews in the Baltimore area and closely monitoring Hurricane Danielle and Tropical Storm Earl, which could threaten the BGE service territory later in the week." BGE contractor crews include personnel from Pike Electric, Utility Lines Construction (formerly Asplundh), Shaw Energy Delivery Services, Davis H. Elliott and Riggs Distler. They are expected to arrive in Charlotte County, Fla. this afternoon and will remain in the area for one to two weeks. The crews' primary job will be to rebuild overhead lines, many of which were toppled under the force of Charley.
