The Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce and Constellation NewEnergy, a subsidiary of Constellation Energy (NYSE: CEG), have opened a new round in the electricity aggregation program that offers Chamber members a team approach for purchasing electricity. The Providence Power Program second round aggregation begins immediately and runs through Dec. 14, 2009.

“We successfully closed the first aggregation round in late November with a number of Chamber members taking advantage of the program, so we are opening a new round to allow more businesses to enroll before year end,” said Laurie White, president of the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce. “We are particularly pleased that small and medium sized businesses, a majority of the Chamber’s membership, are able to pool their smaller electrical load requirements to gain access to power programs that might normally only be available to large commercial and industrial customers.”

Businesses that want to learn more about the Providence Power Program are invited to register for a free webinar www.newenergy.com/provchamber scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. ET.

“With Standard Offer Service utility rates expiring at the end of this year in Rhode Island, now is the ideal time for businesses to evaluate their energy options for the coming year,” said Emily Neill, Constellation NewEnergy’s vice president of sales for New England. “The Providence Power Program participants will have energy budget certainty for 2010, as well as access to a suite of energy resources that will help them develop an optimal energy strategy.”

Providence Power Program members have access to more electrical service options, such as participating in demand response programs that compensate businesses for reducing electricity usage during periods of peak demand on the grid. The renewable energy products offered through the program provide businesses with simple, low cost ways of meeting their sustainability objectives. Participants can also utilize NewEnergy Online, Constellation NewEnergy’s comprehensive suite of tools help businesses lower costs, reduce overall usage and access energy market updates.

The deadline to join the first Providence Power Program second round aggregation is Dec. 14, 2009. There is no fee for Chamber members to join, and Constellation NewEnergy does not add additional fees or charges for businesses to switch electricity service providers.
