Constellation Energy Donates $67,500 to Four Organizations Dedicated to Education

Grants Aimed to Bolster Educational Programs BALTIMORE, Oct. 20
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Constellation Energy (NYSE:CEG) today
announced the donation of $67,500 for the benefit of four
educational organizations - the Fund for Educational Excellence,
Teach for America, the Maryland Business Roundtable for Education
and the Independent College Fund of Maryland. The grants are
illustrative of Constellation Energy's long-standing philanthropic
commitment to community partnerships which address education in
Central Maryland. "A quality education is critically important for
today's youth in that it provides them with the necessary tools for
future success," said Mayo A. Shattuck III, chairman, president and
chief executive officer of Constellation Energy. "To that end,
Constellation Energy remains strongly committed to supporting
Maryland's teachers, students and institutions of learning in
helping ensure a quality education for all." These most recent
Constellation Energy grants include: $20,000 for the Fund for
Educational Excellence, which focuses on expanding educational
opportunities and improving the performance of Baltimore City
school students; $7,500 for Teach for America, which places
outstanding recent college graduates as teachers in low-income
urban areas; $20,000 for the Maryland Business Roundtable for
Education, which supports the reform of systems and processes
affecting student success in elementary and secondary schools; and
$20,000 for the Independent College Fund of Maryland, which
includes the Urban Scholars program that provides annual college
scholarships for students from Baltimore City throughout four years
to increase access to higher education. Constellation Energy's
on-going involvement with education and community outreach
initiatives includes teaching and mentoring programs at several
Baltimore City public schools. The company also administers a
matching gifts program designed to encourage Constellation Energy
employees to financially support colleges and universities.
