Baltimore Gas and Electric Company Prepares for the Potential of
Power Outages in Advance of High Wind and Winter Weather BALTIMORE,
Feb. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE), a
subsidiary of Constellation Energy (NYSE:CEG), today announced that
it continues to monitor weather conditions and make preparations in
advance of forecasted high wind and heavy wet snow which could
result in power outages throughout BGE's service territory. "While
the exact track of the approaching storm remains unclear, we
continue to plan for the possibility of power outages, especially
with the forecast calling for potentially high wind and wet snow
tomorrow into Tuesday," said Mark P. Huston, vice president of
electric transmission and distribution for BGE. "Because the storm
could affect our Central Maryland service territory, we have
already identified for possible mobilization field and support
personnel, enabling us to deploy resources quickly and efficiently,
should outages occur. As always, safety is our top priority. With
that in mind, we thank our customers in advance for their patience
as service restoration could be delayed due to hazardous driving
conditions." BGE urges its customers to be proactive and take
necessary steps to ensure the safety of their families and property
in the event of sustained power outages. Specifically, the elderly
and customers who are dependent upon electricity to power medical
equipment should already have in place alternate arrangements in
the event of a loss of power. Additionally, customers are reminded
that when using a generator, or other carbon monoxide emitting
device, they should keep the area properly ventilated and follow
the manufacturers' instructions to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning.
Customers can best prepare for power outages by keeping the
following items on hand: * Flashlights - not candles * Fresh
batteries * Battery operated clock radio * Corded telephone * Fully
charged cell phone * Non-perishable foods * Blankets *
Thermal/insulated clothing Customers also should consider filling
the fuel tanks of their vehicles in the event a power outage
affects service to neighborhood gas stations. And for customers who
rely on well water, filling a bathtub with water is also helpful.
The safety of BGE's customers and employees is always first and
foremost. Customers should avoid downed power lines and instead
report the situation immediately to BGE at 1-877-778-2222. Where
downed wires is not readily apparent, customers should dial the
same phone number and not assume BGE is aware of a loss of power.
As a reminder, only qualified BGE personnel or contractors are
authorized to remove debris from power lines. Customers should
never approach downed wires for any reason. Once service
restoration begins, after BGE addresses public safety issues and
critical facilities such as pumping stations, 911 centers and
hospitals, restoration is generally scheduled so that the greatest
number of customers can be restored as quickly and as safely as
possible. However, in cases of extended power outages,
consideration also is given to customers who have been without
service for the longest. For more information about BGE storm
preparation and how customers can protect their families and

million electric customers and approximately 620,000 gas customers.
