Production of Peru's main base and precious metals declined in November, the government said Tuesday.

The Ministry of Mines and Energy said that output of gold totaled 13,563 kilograms, down 11.57% compared to the same month a year earlier.

Output of gold fell at Barrick Gold Corp.'s (ABX) Barrick Misquichilca mine; at Minera Yanacocha, and at other mines, it said.

Silver production in Peru, the world's largest producer of that precious metal, fell 12.52% in November to 285,425 kilograms, compared to the year before period, due to lower output at various mines.

Copper production decreased 4.39% to 104,407 metric tons in November due in part, the government said, to weaker output at Xstrata's (XTA.LN) Tintaya operation; at the Antamina mine and at other mines.

Zinc production was 109,839 tons in November, down 20.69% from the year earlier period.

Among some of the other minerals, the government said molybdenum output rose 89.01% in November to 1,933 tons.

Lead output declined 23.93% to 19,397 tons in November.

Iron output rose 7.43% to 440,661 tons, while tin output fell 15.57% in November to 2,449 tons.
