The nation's largest health benefits company has selected Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (NYSE: ACS) to provide an innovative and cost effective method to communicate with members and providers.

Under the new contract with WellPoint, which has the largest medical membership of all benefits companies in the country, ACS will provide healthcare communication services, which includes printing, mailroom, member fulfillment services and outbound communications with members and providers of WellPoints affiliated health plans. ACS will manage more than one billion documents annually, enabling WellPoint to enhance communications with health plan members and providers. Complementing ACS existing voice communication services strategy with WellPoint and extending a 20-year relationship, ACS will consolidate printing, processing, and fulfillment for explanation of benefits, provider payments and other outbound correspondence, allowing members and providers to receive the communications or payments in the most efficient manner possible.

ACS partnership with WellPoint is a creative approach that maximizes savings for WellPoint and allows it to dedicate more resources to and a greater focus on serving members and providers, said Connie Harvey, managing director at ACS. In addition to immediate savings, WellPoint will benefit from ACS ability to reduce operating costs through our investments in technology and infrastructure.
