/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Trend Micro Incorporated,
(TSE:4704)(NASDAQ:TMIC), a leader in network antivirus and content
security software and services, today in North America announced
Network VirusWall(TM) Enforcer, its second-generation
enterprise-class Network Access Control (NAC) appliance that
ensures that all devices -- managed or unmanaged, local or remote
-- comply with security policies before they're granted access to
corporate networks. Unlike other first-generation NAC appliances
that have been announced recently, Network VirusWall Enforcer
integrates all aspects of NAC with anti-worm capabilities into one
simple appliance. Its superior automation of the NAC flow,
including agent-less remediation, reduces administrative burden and
increases user productivity. Deployable easily and with minimal IT
burden in large enterprise networks around the world, Network
VirusWall Enforcer's agentless policy enforcement helps ensure that
employees, contractors, partners, and visitors connect to corporate
networks using a secure, virus-free device. Network VirusWall
Enforcer scans devices for security software, critical patches, and
current updates. It evaluates the security profile of networked
devices, including information about hundreds of versions of
antivirus software from over 20 antivirus vendors, signature
updates, and Microsoft vulnerabilities, and then administers
precise security policies automatically, without end-user
intervention. Non-compliant devices are quarantined and undergo
automatic remediation. Once a device is cleaned and meets corporate
security requirements, it is allowed to access the network.
Overall, Network VirusWall Enforcer extends the benefits of Trend
Micro(TM) Enterprise Protection Strategy, a comprehensive,
multi-layered solution framework that protects against known and
unknown threats. Because of its maturity, the appliance delivers
the enterprise-class policy enforcement that businesses need to
protect their IT investments and end users. Network VirusWall
Enforcer can be centrally managed using Trend Micro Control
Manager(TM). "Prior to deploying Network VirusWall appliances at 22
locations around the country, we had a full-time IT employee
working on virus infections on an average three-to-four hours a
day," said Scott Beauchamp, vice president of IT, Office Suites
PLUS. "We believe the new Network VirusWall Enforcer feature set
will help us gain additional IT efficiencies and further reduce the
administrative burden on my group." Network VirusWall Enforcer
combines granular policy enforcement with automatic worm
prevention. Because many worms can spread instantly upon connection
-- before policy enforcement takes effect -- Network VirusWall
Enforcer provides immediate protection by filtering network traffic
to detect and block worms, bots, and other threats. "IT Managers
want to deploy Network Access Control (NAC) products to protect
against internal threats," said Chris Christiansen, vice president
at IDC. "But simple, easy-to-deploy NAC appliances are needed to
meet the most immediate IT requirements for handling mobile and
guest users. NAC solutions must also be extensible to more
comprehensive NAC architectures." "Network VirusWall Enforcer is a
flexible, cutting-edge solution that enhances the benefits of
Enterprise Protection Strategy by enforcing security policies,
supporting compliance objectives, and enabling swift recovery
within quarantined network segments," said Max Cheng, executive
vice president and general manager of Trend Micro's enterprise
business segment. "By managing network access control, the
appliance enables enterprise organizations to protect end users --
as well as critical IT investments -- and ensure business
continuity regardless of potential threats." The integrated
plug-and-protect appliance is ideal for enterprises that have
multiple network segments and mixed Windows environments. The
appliance offers flexible centralized management options for
efficient enterprise-wide administration. Businesses can utilize
the appliance's built-in Web console or leverage Trend Micro
Control Manager. Availability Network VirusWall Enforcer 2500 will
be available in North America in June 2006. Pricing A 1,000-user
license for the Network VirusWall Enforcer 2500 appliance is priced
at $24,995 in North America. The product is also available in 250-,
500-, 2,500- and 4,000-user licenses at prices that vary by user
count. About Trend Micro Incorporated Trend Micro, Inc. is a leader
