Former Compaq and Texas Instruments Executive Joins SCM Microsystems' Board of Directors

FREMONT, Calif., Feb. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SCM
Microsystems, Inc. (Nasdaq: SCMM; Prime Standard: SMY), a leading

the appointment of Werner Karl Koepf to its Board of Directors.
Koepf, 64, brings more than 35 years of experience in technology
company management to SCM's board. He has an extensive background
in engineering, sales and business management with leading
technology companies in Europe. After beginning his career at
Siemens, he worked for 22 years at Texas Instruments, where he rose
to become vice president of the European Semiconductors Group. In
his former position as vice president of the International Systems
Division, Koepf was responsible for all of Texas Instruments' data
systems and consumer business outside the U.S., including
calculators, home computers and learning aids. From 1989 to 1993,
he served as chairman and CEO of European Silicon Structures, an
ASIC manufacturing company founded by a consortium of European
technology companies. From 1993 until his retirement in 2002, Koepf
held various senior management positions at Compaq Computer, most
recently as CEO and chairman for Compaq Computer, EMEA and as
Executive Chairman, Compaq Computer International. He holds a
bachelor's degree with honors in electrical engineering from the
Technical College in St. Poelten, Austria and a master's degree in
business administration from the University of Munich. Koepf
currently serves on the board of several technology companies,
including telent plc (formerly Marconi Corporation plc), Gemplus
International SA and PXP Software AG. He also serves as an advisor
to venture capital firms Techno Venture Management GmbH and
Invision AG. "Werner Koepf brings valuable technology and business
