Redback Networks Inc. (NASDAQ:RBAK), a leading provider of
next-generation broadband networking systems, today announced that
Tel.Pacific, an innovative Australian ISP, has selected the Redback
SmartEdge(R) Multi-Service Edge Router for delivering next
generation IP services over its next generation broadband network.
Leveraging the edge routing, high availability and subscriber
control capabilities of the platform, Redback enabled a Smart
Broadband Network that consolidates multiple network layers and
reduces network complexity, improving operational efficiency. "The
SmartEdge router's integration of edge routing, Ethernet
aggregation, and subscriber management capabilities helps us to
build a network to deliver advanced broadband services to our
growing direct customer base as well as our future wholesale
customers," said Gookjin Kim, operations manager at Tel.Pacific.
"By consolidating multiple network layers, we are able to control
all of today's and future IP services from a single operational
environment reducing our recurring expenses." The SmartEdge router
provides Tel.Pacific the ability to individually control the
bandwidth and the QoS of the Internet traffic of a given
subscriber, resulting in a consistent and high quality user
experience. The purpose built SmartEdge architecture is designed to
enable Tel.Pacific to introduce new services rapidly while
extending the service capabilities of its IP network by reducing
the time to market for new services. "By working with the most
advanced broadband carriers in the world, Redback has developed an
integrated platform that helps service providers build a network
that is scalable and efficient," said Simon Williams, vice
president of sales and operations for the Asia and Pacific region.
"We are excited to be working with innovative customers such as
Tel.Pacific to deliver a solution that will enhance the broadband
services and experience of the Australian consumer." About Redback
