Pacer Stacktrain, part of Concord-California based Pacer International (Nasdaq:PACR), announced that intermodal industry veteran Dan Beers has joined the company as executive vice president for sales. According to Tom Shurstad, president of Pacer Stacktrain, the appointment of Beers will permit the company to consolidate its various sales activities under a single executive. Beers will oversee Pacer Stacktrain's domestic, Mexico, automotive, and ocean carrier markets, he said. With more than 30 years of transportation experience, Beers has held key management and sales positions in the rail, trucking, and intermodal sectors, including nine years with Mexico's TFM Railroad. He holds a BBA in accounting from Texas A&M. Pacer Stacktrain operates a North America network of cost-efficient double-stacked trains (carrying two tiers of containers). It manages the special rail equipment and the loading, tracing and advance-arrival notification for its customers, while using the power, crews and trackage of the railroads. It also maintains managers in the field to facilitate train loadings and interchanges.
