Transatlantic stock market operator NYSE Euronext (NYX) Thursday said Dominique Cerutti will replace Jean-Francois Theodore as deputy chief executive from the end of 2009.

Theodore is retiring but will remain on NYSE Euronext's board as a director.

Cerutti, who is currently general manager of IBM Southwest Europe, will also become chairman and chief executive of Euronext Paris and chairman of Euronext NV's board.

He will help the company to shape strategy, seeking business and revenue growth through acquisitions and strategic partnerships, Euronext said. Cerutti has been with IBM for 23 years. Before that he spent two years with French construction company Bouygues SA (EN.FR) in Saudi Arabia.

"Dominique Cerutti will be instrumental in advancing our strategic vision and business transformation," said Jan-Michiel Hessels, Chairman of the NYSE Euronext board. "His commitments to customers, innovation, integrity and excellence make Dominique the right choice to succeed Jean-Francois, who has extraordinarily well served our company, shareholders as well as the Paris and our other European markets throughout his career," he said.
