Lumera Adds Donald Guthrie, Fraser Black and James Judson to Board
of Directors - Technology Veterans Strengthen Board With Experience
and Expertise - BOTHELL, Wash., Oct. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Lumera Corporation, (NASDAQ:LMRA), has named business and
technology veterans Donald Guthrie, Fraser Black and James Judson
to the company's Board of Directors. "We have significantly
strengthened the company with the addition of our three new board
members," said Lumera CEO Thomas D. Mino. "Each brings a unique
skill set that has been proven over decades of experience in
business. They will each provide sage counsel and guidance to
Lumera as we continue to grow and realize our potential as a
nanotechnology leader." Donald Guthrie will serve as the Chairman
of Lumera's Audit Committee and as a member of the Compensation
Committee. Guthrie joins the Board having previously served as Vice
Chairman and Chief Financial Officer of the Western Wireless
Corporation; as Vice Chairman of VoiceStream Wireless, now T-Mobile
USA subsequent to its acquisition by Deutsche Telekom AG; and as a
Senior Vice President and Treasurer of McCaw Cellular. Fraser Black
will serve as a member of Lumera's Audit Committee and Compensation
Committee. Over the course of his business career he served as
Chief Financial Officer of ONYX Software, a publicly traded CRM
enterprise software developer. He has also served as a Managing
Partner at Pioneer Square Properties, a real estate property
management and development company. James Judson will serve as a
member of Lumera's Audit Committee and the Nominating and
Governance Committee. Judson co-founded Eagle River Investments,
LLC, a Kirkland-based venture capital fund that focuses on
communications and has been a business law partner at the law firm
of Davis Wright Tremaine in Seattle since 1975. Lumera announced
last month that it had developed a revolutionary electro-optic
polymer -- a molecularly engineered material -- that has
unprecedented performance for advanced, high performance materials.
Lumera is using the technology and materials to develop a number of
new products that will allow the company to expand in, or enter new
markets. For example, the company is developing modulators that
have highly linear responses for cable TV (CATV) optical links and
hybrid wireless/fiber optic networks. Additionally, external
modulators that can operate at 10-40 GHz in metro applications,
transponders, and long haul fiber optic network build-outs are
being evaluated by potential customers. All have broad potential in
markets that are gaining momentum in North America, Europe, and
Asia. The markets for these various products are forecasted to be
greater than $5 billion by 2007. About Lumera Lumera is an emerging
leader in the field of nanotechnology. The company designs
proprietary molecular structures and polymer compounds for a broad
range of electro-optic, RF and specialty coating applications. The
company also has developed proprietary processes for fabricating
such devices. For more information, visit: http://www.lumera.com/
