BANGALORE--Cadbury India Ltd., a part of Kraft Foods Inc. (KFT),
Wednesday launched Toblerone chocolates in India.
"This launch is in line with our business objective of growing
the premium gifting chocolate market...," Chandramouli Venkatesan,
director of snacking and strategy at Cadbury India, said in a
statement.
Northfield, Illinois-based Kraft's $19 billion acquisition of
British confectioner Cadbury PLC in 2010 has given it greater
access to sales in fast-growing developing countries in Latin
America and Asia.
Kraft has since started selling its brands like Oreo cookies and
Tang powdered drink mix in India, where higher disposable income in
the hands of a growing middle class presents a big opportunity for
food and beverages makers.
Cadbury India also sells brands such as Cadbury Dairy Milk,
Bournvita, 5 Star, Perk, Bournville and Celebrations in India.
