Intrado Inc. (Nasdaq:TRDO), a global provider of integrated data and telecommunications solutions, today announced that its wireless 9-1-1 call routing systems have processed more than 50 million wireless 9-1-1 calls since August 2002, when Intrado deployed its Mobile Positioning Center (MPC) and Gateway Mobile Location Center (GMLC). The MPC and GMLC route wireless 9-1-1 calls and provide critical information to call-takers at public safety answering points (PSAP) in the United States, as required by the FCC. The call volume on these two platforms has grown steadily since they were deployed. Effective delivery of wireless 9-1-1 requires that the carrier be able to access the nation's dedicated wireline 9-1-1 network and that the call be routed to the nearest or most appropriate public safety answering point (PSAP) based upon the caller's physical location. This milestone demonstrates that Intrado's wireless customers are increasingly looking to Intrado to provide 9-1-1 call routing solutions as well as 9-1-1 network access as they seek more cost-effective and efficient ways to meet their 9-1-1 obligations. Intrado provides 9-1-1 services to more than 55 wireless service providers including most major carriers, and supports the majority of wireless calls made to 9-1-1 in the United States. "The growing volume of wireless 9-1-1 calls illustrates the need for wireless carriers to reliably and cost effectively meet the 9-1-1 needs of their subscribers," said Steve Adams, Intrado senior vice president of wireless services delivery. "Intrado appreciates the confidence shown by our customers in allowing us to manage more of their 9-1-1 services and helping us to achieve this significant milestone so quickly."
