Intellon Corporation (Nasdaq: ITLN), a leading provider of
HomePlug®-compatible integrated circuits (ICs) for home networking,
networked entertainment, Ethernet-over-Coax (EoC) and smart grid
applications, announced that ST&T Electric Corporation, a
Taiwan-based broadband solution provider, has integrated Intellon’s
newest HomePlug AV chipset, the INT6400, into its new HD Media Link
System (Model HDAV 6490). The system moves HD video from source
devices to TVs throughout a home using the existing electrical
wiring.
The HDAV 6490 will allow consumers to easily connect various HD
sources to HD TVs or projectors throughout the home without having
to install any new wiring or wrestle with complicated set-ups. With
the existing electrical lines providing a fast, reliable wired
connection between various entertainment components, consumers can
enjoy entertainment-grade video at virtually any electrical
outlet.
In addition to the transmission of the digital HD signals, the
HDAV 6490’s infrared pass-through transmits remote commands over
the home’s power lines so users can operate remotes in the TV
viewing room for the AV source located in another room.
“This unit allows you to move video or game content from Blu-ray
players, digital video recorders, network drives, PCs, game
consoles and the like from one location in the home to a TV located
in another room,” said Rick Furtney, president and COO of Intellon
Corporation. “By integrating our INT6400, the unit provides
reliable connectivity and entertainment-grade video at a lower cost
than professional installations or other more complicated
solutions.”
“ST&T is pleased to work with Intellon in bringing the HDAV
6490 to the consumer entertainment market,” said Tony Li, general
manager of ST&T Electric Corporation. “Intellon’s INT 6400
HomePlug AV IC allowed us to provide a highly integrated, low power
and cost-effective solution for in-home multimedia
distribution.”
The INT6400 is Intellon’s most advanced IC. It has the lowest
power consumption of any 200 Mbps PHY-rate HomePlug AV-class IC,
supports European 2011 Code of Conduct requirements for adapters
and embedded products and delivers higher TCP throughput and more
customer programmability options (such as programmable LEDs, push
buttons and diagnostics), as well as improved Quality of Service
(QoS).
