SAN JOSE, Calif., March 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Integrated
Device Technology, Inc.® (IDT®) (NASDAQ: IDTI) has been
recognized by the City of San Jose
for going "above and beyond" in adopting and implementing a
zero-waste program. At a recent City Council meeting, Mayor
Sam Liccardo, council member Ash
Kalra and the other council members issued a commendation to IDT
for supporting the city's zero-waste goal "through its leadership
in recycling and diversion efforts."
IDT instituted a "Wet and Dry" waste management program at its
San Jose headquarters in
January 2015. Under the simple
program, there are only two types of bins—wet bins for all
compostable material, and dry bins for all recyclables and landfill
material. Since implementing the program, the company has
dramatically reduced food waste contamination in the recycling bins
and achieved more than 20 percent increase in the compost rate.
"I am grateful for IDT's investments in San Jose, and the jobs the company has
generated at its headquarters in the Edenvale Technology Park,"
Liccardo said. "IDT's zero-waste program is a great example of how
our city's many tech employers and innovators are doing their part
to help us achieve our Green Vision goals."
"We studied various options and determined the Wet and Dry
program would be the most effective in meeting our
goals--streamlining recycling, reducing food waste contamination in
the recycling bins, and encouraging composting—while keeping it
simple for our employees," said Sailesh
Chittipeddi, IDT's chief technology officer and vice
president of global operations. "We appreciate the city's
recognition as well as the cooperation and support from employees
at our San Jose campus."
"IDT has set a great example of how our corporate citizens can
support the city's Zero Waste Strategic Plan and Green Vision
Initiative," Kalra said. "The city extends its thanks and
appreciation for IDT's commitment to the environment."
