IMPCO Granted Emissions Approval for General Motors 1.6L Engine
CERRITOS, Calif., Nov. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IMPCO
Technologies, Inc. announced today that it has been granted
emission approval for the popular General Motors 1.6L industrial
engine for off-highway mobile use beginning in 2004. The CARB
Executive Order and the EPA approval states that the General Motors
1.6L engine equipped with propane and gasoline emission control
systems produced by IMPCO are certified for use by Original
Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in meeting the new 2004 off-highway
emission regulations. The engines will utilize IMPCO's Spectrum(R)
electronic emission control and fueling system. IMPCO is the only
company to receive multiple off-highway emission approvals for the
popular General Motors engines. Under the new emission regulations
effective January 1, 2004, OEMs cannot sell their equipment into
the off-highway mobile market unless the engines are certified to
meet stringent emission regulations. The CARB Executive Order and
the Federal EPA approval confirm that the IMPCO engine meets the
stringent emission requirements for applications such as forklift
trucks, sweepers, aerial lifts, power generators, pumps and
compressors. The new emission certified off-highway mobile engine
market is estimated to have potential sales of $180 million
annually in the United States. Regarding IMPCO: IMPCO is the
world's leading source of advanced alternative fuel systems
technology and components for internal combustion engines. IMPCO
products enable these engines to function using environmentally
friendly gaseous fuels such as propane, natural gas and bio-gas.
