G&K Services, Inc. (Nasdaq:GKSRA), a market leader in branded identity apparel programs and facility services, today announced that it was named one of the 50 Best Employers in Canada for the second consecutive year. The award is sponsored by The Globe and Mail, Canada's national newspaper, and Hewitt and Associates, a global consulting firm whose Vancouver, British Columbia office conducted and analyzed the surveys for the award. "We are honored to receive this award for the second consecutive year," said Robert Wood, president of G&K Services Canada. "The award is based on responses from our most valuable asset, our people, which serves as a strong testament to the fulfilling work environment at our company. We look forward to continuing to provide people with a great place to work while serving our customers' image and safety needs." G&K Services has been providing branded identity apparel and facility service programs to customers in Canada since 1990. Today, G&K is the largest provider of these programs in Canada, employing more than 1,900 people. "Our strong company culture and outstanding people create a positive, opportunity-rich environment across North America," said Richard Marcantonio, chairman and chief executive officer of G&K Services, Inc. "We are very proud of our Canadian partners whose hard work and dedication earned G&K Canada this recognition for the second straight year. In addition to establishing a great work environment, they have also continued to build our market leading position in Canada." As in previous years, global HR outsourcing and consulting firm Hewitt and Associates designed and conducted this study. The survey is sent to more than 1,500 Canadian companies with greater than 400 employees. Broken down into three components - the Leadership Team Survey, the Human Resources Survey, and the Employee Opinion Survey - the results were meant to capture a broad employee perspective within the company. The Leadership Team survey focused on the vision, culture, strengths and opportunities of the organization while the Human Resources survey focused on the HR strategy and philosophy of the company. The Employee survey was distributed to a random sample of employees, representing union and non-union groups proportionally, including employees from G&K's recent acquisitions in Canada. Based on the employee size of G&K Canada, 500 employee surveys were required for consideration. The results and an article on the winners were published in The Globe and Mail's Report on Business and La Presse on December 23, 2005. In addition, the study results can be accessed at www.hewitt.com/bestcompaniescanada.
