Frontier offers 100 round-trip tickets to Siouxland area non-profits to celebrate inaugural and demonstrate commitment to community DENVER, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Frontier Airlines (NASDAQ:FRNT) today began non-stop service between its Denver International Airport (DEN) hub and Sioux Gateway Airport (SUX), Sioux City, Iowa. The twice daily service will initially be served by the 76-seat Embraer E-170. Upon Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) approval, Sioux City will ultimately be served by Frontier Airlines Holdings, Inc. subsidiary Lynx Aviation, with its 74-seat Q400 aircraft. However, Lynx employees will provide customer service support in Sioux City beginning with the launch of the new service today. Twice named an All-American City by the National Civic League, Sioux City, Iowa serves as the regional hub for business, employment, industry, retail trade, medical care, educational opportunities and tourism in Northwest Iowa, Southeast South Dakota and Northeast Nebraska. More than 140,000 people live in the tri-state metropolitan area. "The launch of today's new Frontier service is truly an historic day for this city and the tri-state metropolitan area as we finally have direct flights to the Western U.S.," said Sioux City Mayor, Craig Berenstein. "With low fares and non-stop service to its Denver hub, the addition of Frontier airlines to Sioux Gateway Airport represents great opportunity for economic development in the greater Siouxland area. When we began initial talks with Frontier, we were one of 65 communities vying for a precious few aircraft to serve our cities and I am so proud to say today that we successfully demonstrated to Frontier that we are a city of choice -- I am confident that we will exceed Frontier's expectations." "We are proud to be the first and only carrier offering Sioux City non-stop service to Denver and one-stop connecting service to over twenty destinations in the Western U.S., Mexico and Canada," said John Happ, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Planning. "Siouxland is clearly a thriving community and I have every confidence that the businesses and citizens of the tri-state metropolitan area will fully exploit the economic development opportunity that this new service represents. We look forward to a long and successful relationship as we demonstrate to the citizens of this great 'heartland' region that Frontier understands a strong work ethic, and that we value each of our passengers individually." Frontier donates tickets to area non-profits Frontier also announced it will donate 50 pairs of tickets to non-profit organizations in the Siouxland community. The low cost carrier will award the tickets through an essay contest asking Siouxland non-profit organizations: "Which of Frontier's tail animals best represents your organization?" Frontier will announce the 50 winners on Tuesday, October 30, 2007. This ticket giveaway is open to certified 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations in the tri-state metropolitan area.
