Entropic-Based MoCA 2.0 NETGEAR Home Networking Gear is First to Receive MoCA 2.0 Certification
February 28 2014 - 8:00AM
Continuing to dominate the MoCA Home Networking market, Entropic
(Nasdaq:ENTR), a world leader in semiconductor solutions for the
connected home, proudly announced today the NETGEAR® WM2500RP
MoCA-to-WiFi® extender, based on Entropic's EN2710 MoCA 2.0
solution, is the first MoCA 2.0 certified product available on the
market.
The NETGEAR WM2500RP MoCA-to-WiFi extender improves whole-home
video and data coverage by delivering more than 400 Megabits per
second (Mbps) of usable throughput in basic mode and 500 Mbps in
Turbo mode; providing end-users the most reliable wired backbone to
distribute Ultra High-Definition (HD) media, low latency online and
cloud gaming, over-the-top (OTT) / Internet content and wireless
entertainment anywhere in the home.
The NETGEAR WM2500RP leverages Entropic's powerful EN2710 MoCA
2.0 chipset, which features a complete solution with MAC, PHY, RF
transceiver and RF front-end functionality. It offers low power
modes and is fully backward interoperable with prior MoCA versions
(MoCA 1.1 and 1.0). Entropic was the first to officially announce
Board-approved MoCA 2.0 Golden Node certification in December
2013.
"We congratulate NETGEAR for having the first certified MoCA 2.0
product available," said Al Servati, vice president, Marketing,
Entropic. "Leveraging our MoCA 2.0 silicon and software, NETGEAR
brings to market a powerful networking solution that allows
consumers to use the coax wired backbone for online gaming and
streaming HD, Ultra HD and IP-based video to primary client set-top
boxes and secondary screens like mobile devices without any
interruptions or buffering – anywhere within the home."
"By delivering the first certified MoCA 2.0 product to market we
continue to demonstrate our leadership and commitment to the MoCA
standard," said Naveen Chhangani, director of product management
for NETGEAR Service Provider Business. "We used Entropic's MoCA 2.0
solution to give consumers the most powerful, reliable device to
stream and optimize content viewing their way, any way and on any
device in the home."
