(The Cable Show 2013) -- Humax (115160.KQ), a global leading set-top box manufacturer is proud to participate at The Cable Show 2013's much anticipated session: "RDK [Reference Design Kit] in Action." Humax' Senior Technical Staff Lead, Robert McNabb, will present "From Months to Days with RDK," and discuss the progress made on the Xi3 IP-based client set-top box (STB) platform.

Humax and Entropic (Nasdaq:ENTR), a world leader in semiconductor solutions for the connected home, are demonstrating their IP-Client device based on hardware and software specifications developed by Comcast. The Humax client device enables cable subscribers to view a rich set of IP-based video services at any TV in the home. The device can run native and cloud-based applications and provides a highly-efficient, media and graphics-rich end-user experience. The Humax client solution is powered by Entropic's EN7588 system-on-a-chip (SoC), a dual-core ARM® Cortex™-A9 solution bundled with Entropic's leading Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA®) silicon and software to provide reliable whole-home network connectivity.

The "RDK in Action" session will address last year's reveal of MSO representatives from Comcast, Charter, Liberty Global and Time Warner Cable announcing the RDK as a way to get to market more quickly with IP devices and services. They discussed plans to embrace open standards, from the chip level up. This year, RDK is front-and-center at The Cable Show, with working demonstrations of the technology platform at booths including Humax' (located at CableNET) and Entropic's (located at booth #2807).

"By working with Entropic, we have made significant progress on the RDK – taking development time down from months to days," said Robert McNabb. "It's exciting to think of all the opportunities and applications that can now be offered to consumers in a shorter period of time due to the open platform supported through the RDK initiative."

Entropic's Roger Gregory, vice president of Marketing, Set-top Box Products added, "Humax brings an extensive amount of STB experience and focus to the RDK initiative, and coupled with our advanced STB SoC and MoCA solutions, we are able to deliver and port new applications in record time. This is key to global operators looking to optimize the set-top box platform and offer new IP-based services in a shorter amount of time."

The "RDK in Action" session is co-moderated by Comcast's Mark Hess and Steve Reynolds, and will focus on RDK progress amongst silicon providers, manufacturers, integrators and developers. Session Details are listed below:
