Entropic Paves the Way to Monetize the Next-Generation Cable Architecture for MSOs
June 04 2013 - 8:00AM
On display at The Cable Show 2013, Entropic (Nasdaq:ENTR), a world
leader in semiconductor solutions for the connected home, will
showcase how it is enabling the Cable ecosystem to monetize the
next-generation cable architecture with its advanced platform
semiconductor solutions. The demonstrations will take place at
booth #2807, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in
Washington, D.C., from June 10 – 12, 2013.
Entropic's live demonstrations and news reflect the Company's
continued efforts to advance the way entertainment and applications
are brought into, distributed and enjoyed throughout the connected
home by ensuring:
- ACCESS AT THE EDGE. Entropic reliably brings digital
entertainment into the home with its c.LINK® Broadband Access
solutions, which distributes content to the point of entry over a
common coaxial cable. At The Cable Show, Entropic will demonstrate
the highest performance (800Mbps), most scalable, cost-effective
Ethernet-over-Coax (EoC) solutions to meet the demands of the cable
access consumer.
- WHOLE-HOME COVERAGE. Entropic's solutions connect customer
premises equipment (CPE) and retail consumer devices throughout the
home via a robust, dependable MoCA® (Multimedia over Coax Alliance)
home networking backbone. Entropic invented the MoCA technology
which is now enabling the shift from traditional broadcast to IP
video distribution throughout the home. At The Cable Show, the
Company will show its innovative gateway/client architecture
solutions, unveil new MoCA-based CPE devices and highlight the
latest MoCA 2.0 silicon solutions.
- RICH TV EXPERIENCES, EVERYWHERE. Entropic's set-top box (STB)
system-on-a-chip (SoC) technologies enrich the cable TV experience.
The Company's open standards-based SoC platform is inherently
efficient and leverages the powerful ARM® processor to provide
superior performance for today's STBs, IP-Clients and hybrid
systems. At The Cable Show, Entropic will highlight innovative
video processing and advanced software capabilities as well as
demonstrate applications utilizing Entropic's powerful
architecture.
"As the only pure-play platform semiconductor company in
connected home entertainment, we are transforming how today's
global cable / MSOs advance the way content is brought into,
distributed and enjoyed throughout the home," said Dr. Anton Monk,
vice president, Technology, Entropic. "Our set-top box
system-on-a-chip and MoCA silicon platforms empower cable service
providers to generate new revenue opportunities by deploying
innovative entertainment services as they move to new
gateway/client architectures in the home."
