Development Workshop to Discuss Target Applications and Market
Dynamics SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jan. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Endwave Corporation a leading provider of radio frequency (RF)
subsystems for carrier-class cellular infrastructure, broadband
wireless networks, and defense systems, will co-host an IWPC
(International Wireless Packaging Consortium, http://www.iwpc.org/)
conference from January 18-21st in San Jose, CA, entitled,
"Emerging 60 and 70-90 GHz Gigabit Wireless Communications". The
purpose of the conference is to bring together senior leaders
across the entire wireless telecom supply chain to facilitate and
stimulate breakthrough thinking on technologies and manufacturing
processes that will enable this new application to flourish. The
FCC has recently ruled to make available the 71-76 GHz and the
81-86 GHz bands (commonly referred to as "E-Band") for "GigaBit
Wireless" communications systems at rates traditionally achieved
only with fiber optics. Such systems, as well as those in the
unlicensed 60 GHz band, will permit very high data rate
communications for Internet and Intranet hub interconnectivity over
business areas and campus environments without the need for the
costly civil works associated with laying fiber. Endwave played a
key role in shaping and then encouraging the adoption of the FCC
rules on these millimeter-wave bands. Endwave will be sponsoring
two presentations at the conference: Mr. Doug Lockie will provide a
top-level view of the E-Band market drivers and potential
applications, and Dr. Edward Stoneham will discuss core technology
that Endwave is developing to satisfy the cost and performance
challenges of operating at E-Band frequencies. Endwave is currently
in the process of creating key hardware building blocks to satisfy
the needs of this new millimeter-wave market, thereby creating the
high-frequency transceiver standard for OEMs to utilize in their
new E-Band radio solutions. Cisco is hosting the conference, and
co-hosts along with Endwave include Motorola, IBM, Velocium,
TriQuint, Infineon, United Monolithic Semiconductors, and Terabeam.

topics, see the IWPC web site at
