Endwave Transceivers Continue to Power Nokia's Cellular
Transmission Networks SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jan. 30
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Endwave Corporation (NASDAQ:ENWV), a
leading provider of high-frequency RF modules for
telecommunications networks, defense electronics, and homeland
security systems, today announced a recently executed follow-on
contract with Nokia for the continued production of Endwave's
current and next-generation transceivers. The purchase agreement is
effective as of January 1, 2006 and provides a continuous bridge
from the previous multi-year agreement between the companies, which
concluded on December 31, 2005. The new purchase agreement has
"evergreen" status, as it does not provide for an expiration date
and may only be terminated by either party upon 18 months' prior
written notice or upon the occurrence of certain events listed in
the purchase agreement. Endwave's transceivers combine
high-frequency transmit and receive functions into a single,
integrated, module that forms the heart of a typical digital
microwave radio. These radios are commonly used in "backhaul"
applications within wireless networks to transmit voice and data
traffic from a remote cell site to a central office or switch.
Mobile operators understand that microwave radio offers a
compelling alternative to expensive leased-line options from local
operators due to its rapid deployment, high quality of service,
ability to upgrade network capacity as conditions demand, and ease
of maintenance. As a leading supplier of integrated transceivers
for mobile telecommunications applications, Endwave offers a full
portfolio of RF subsystem solutions ranging from 4 GHz up through
94 GHz. Endwave's new agreement with Nokia covers the terms and
conditions of the sale of various Endwave transceiver products that
provide coverage over multiple licensed microwave frequency bands.
These transceivers are used as the core RF module for Nokia's
FlexiHopper(TM) and FlexiHopper Plus(TM) microwave radios, which
can be used for many communication needs in cellular, fixed and
dedicated networks. "We are pleased to have renewed our long-term
agreement with Nokia, our largest customer for the past five years
running," said Ed Keible, CEO and President of Endwave Corporation.
"Our volume manufacturing capability coupled with Endwave's
continual introduction of disruptive, low-cost technologies are
enabling leading system vendors such as Nokia to meet the growing
demand for higher bandwidth wireless communications." About Endwave
