Endwave's Microwave Switch Arrays Power Homeland Security
Checkpoint System SUNNYVALE, Calif., Aug. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/
-- Endwave Corporation (NASDAQ:ENWV), a leading provider of high
frequency RF modules for telecommunications networks, defense
electronics and homeland security systems, today announced the
receipt of a follow-on purchase order from SafeView, Inc. for
additional Phase I microwave switch arrays for use in
SafeScout(TM), SafeView's advanced personnel screening portal. This
follow-on order for Phase I switch arrays will allow Endwave to
maintain production of the current hardware for SafeView, with
their transition to SafeView's new Phase II design anticipated in
early 2006. SafeView has developed a new technology designed to
improve the effectiveness of people screening at portal security
checkpoints, providing for the rapid and safe identification of
concealed objects being carried by individuals. These objects can
be made of any material including metal, plastics, ceramics, paper,
and wood. SafeView's security portal produces a three-dimensional
holographic image of the individual being scanned. Using
breakthrough millimeter wave technology developed by Battelle
Laboratories, the SafeScout can detect and reveal the presence of
such dangerous material to security personnel in real time.
SafeView's system offers a more effective and less intrusive
alternative to metal detectors, pat down searches, and other means
used to ensure safety in locations ranging from airports, prisons,
court houses, border crossings, military installations and other
government facilities, to commercial buildings, including sports
and entertainment venues. Endwave and SafeView have been in
pre-production collaboration for over a year, with Endwave
providing the transceiver and microwave switch arrays for the
portal. Beta-system units have been produced and delivered by
Endwave, and successfully demonstrated by SafeView in trial systems
deployed in various locations around the world. "The Endwave --
SafeView relationship continues to take positive steps forward,"
said Ed Keible, President and Chief Executive Officer of Endwave.
"This Phase I follow-on order, in conjunction with our previously
announced Phase II development contract with SafeView, displays our
ability to harness new opportunities in emerging high-frequency
markets." "Endwave continues to demonstrate their prowess in
delivering world-class high frequency subsystem solutions to
SafeView," said Rick Rowe, Chief Executive Officer of SafeView. "As
they have been instrumental in commercializing other high-frequency
markets, we see Endwave as a valuable partner for SafeView as we
move forward with our plans to bring our portal scanners into the
next round of production," added Rowe. About Endwave Endwave
