release reads: CDW NAMED AS ONE OF THE 2006 'TOP 50 MOST
MILITARY-FRIENDLY EMPLOYERS' BY G.I. JOBS MAGAZINE CDW Corporation
(NASDAQ:CDWC), a leading provider of technology products and
services to businesses, government and education, has been named
one of the Top 50 Most Military-Friendly Employers in G.I. Jobs
magazines fourth annual list honoring large firms that do the most
to recruit and retain military veterans. We are pleased to be
recognized by G.I. Jobs. One of the more powerful ways companies
can support our troops is to help ease their transition from
Americas armed services into the corporate sector, said John A.
Edwardson, chairman and chief executive officer, CDW. The U.S.
military imparts the type of strategic, managerial and technical
training that make former troops ideal job candidates and
successful coworkers. CDW is ranked No. 39 on the G.I. Jobs list.
Companies were evaluated on their efforts to recruit from the
military, results in recruiting from the military and policies for
Reserve and Guard members called to active duty. Veteran
promotional programs and community involvement were also
considered. "In the military, our troops learn how to define a
mission, develop a plan, apply resources and execute the plan with
superior leadership skills," said Rick McCormack, publisher of GI
Jobs. "This real world experience solving complex problems at such
a young age makes our veterans hot commodities to corporate America
and it's why our Top 50 employers have put their military hiring
programs into overdrive." To help complement its military-friendly
employment practices, CDW is ensuring that deployed troops are
better able to keep in touch with their families and loved ones on
the home front. CDW Government, Inc. (CDW-G), a wholly owned
subsidiary of CDW, recently donated 100 refurbished computers to
the families of the U.S. Army 2nd Brigade, 10th Mountain Division,
currently deployed in Iraq, through a partnership with Operation
Homelink, an all-volunteer, non-profit organization. While most
soldiers have access to e-mail while deployed at remote outposts,
including sites throughout Iraq, the situation is often different
for their families back home. Troops rely on correspondence from
family members during demanding deployments, but the families of
many junior enlisted soldiers are often not able to afford
computers and must rely on conventional mail or expensive phone
calls to stay in touch. Operation Homelink strives to link American
soldiers deployed overseas with their families through e-mail
communication using computers donated by sponsors such as CDW-G.
